Shen Ming was born in Hekou Town, Linli County. When King Hui of Chu was in power, Shen led troops to quell the rebellion. The rebel army took Shen’s father as hostage to force Shen to retreat, but Shen refused. Unfortunately, his father was killed at last. After rebellion was quelled, Shen kneed next to his father’s body and committed suicide in the end. On hearing Shen’s death, King Hui of Chu awarded Shen’s offspring and built a city called Shen Ming City in Xin’an Town (now in Linli county) in memory of him.
