Wang Xianrong, a local of Lixian County, is a well-known grape planter in Hunan Province. In 1986, he devoted himself to planting grape after failing national college entrance examination. With his hard work and constant experiment, he succeeded in cultivating high-quality grape varieties and became the “grape prince” of Lixian County. With his help, many local people became rich by planting grape. In 2003, he won the honor of Top Ten Youth Farmers of Hunan; in 2006, he won Yuan Longping Science and Technology Advancement Award; in 2007, he was selected as a NPC deputy and hired by Agricultural University of Hunan as postgraduate supervisor and doctor supervisor.
