  4. Rich Resources
  1) Grain: The average annual grain output is 2.5 million tons which makes up 10% of the total amount in Hunan Province. Changde City has long been known as a “Grain Store”.
  2) Cotton: The annual output is about 90,000 tons. For all the textile industry in the city, there are 450,000 pieces of gauze bursts and 6,700 looms. Its printing and dyeing capacity is about 180 million meters. Changde has been called “the City of Spinning”.
  3) Oil plants: The annual output is about 390,000 tons.
  4) Tea: Tea mainly grows in Taoyuan County and Shimen County with 160,000- acre planted areas, and an 8,000-ton annual output. Changde has also been known as “the Hometown of Tea.”
  5) Oranges: Oranges mainly grow in Shimen County with a planted area of 410,000 acres, and an annual output of 300,000 tons. Changde has been honoured “the Hometown of Oranges in China.”
  6) Fresh water pearls: Fresh water pearls are mainly bred in Anxiang County, Hanshou County and Dingcheng District with a bred water area of 300,000 acres and an annual pearl output of 580 tons which totals about one third of the world’s output.
  7) Poplar trees: With the a planted area reaching 1.5 million acres, poplar trees mainly grow in Hanshou County, Lixian County, Anxiang County and Linli County, etc. Hanshou County has been named as “Hometown of the Poplar in China”.
  8) Bamboo: A total of 5.2 million pieces of bamboo mainly grow in Taoyuan County, Dingcheng District and Hanshou County.
  9) Gypsum: The reserves of gypsum above D grade total 3 billion tons with good quality and easy exploitation. Gypsum deposits in Linli County, Lixian County and Shimen County ranks first in Asia.
  10) Rock salt and mirabilite: The reserves amount to 124 million tons for rock salt and 238 million tons for mirabilite. They mainly deposit in Lixian County and Jinshi County which are the main bases for salt chemical industry.
  11) Limestone: the about 23-billion-ton limestone is deposited mainly in Taoyuan County, Lixian County and Linli County.
